The Kanga (Leso) is a traditional East African wrap/cloth, crafted from lightweight cotton fabric. Its intricate patterns and design are eye catching and always contain a section with a Swahili proverb. Kangas unites many cultures and is mostly predominant in the Kenyan coastal region and Tanzania.
The name 'Kanga' is a Swahili word for a Guinea Fowl. The beloved Kanga are also nicknames the 'talking cloth' as not only do they have the proverbial messages but are also used to send messages socially, politically religiously. They are also used to signify health and wealth in various communities.
